Chapter 2
Rapports of the signs to plants, animals, and metals

1. Just as each planet has its rulership upon things, so also each sign has its rulerships upon things. Let's begin with the Ram.

2. The Ram has, among body parts, the head, the face, the pupil of the eye, and the ears; among colors, yellow mixed with red (orange); among flavors, the bitter; among places, those that are sandy, burning, and those where brigands meet; among metals and minerals, those that are worked by fire; among animals, those with hooves.

3. The Bull has among body parts, the throat and the vocal cords; among places, all inhabited land, gardens, and farmland; among trees all tall ones that produce edible fruits, those with no need of water, and those that have a pleasant odor and taste; among animals, all those that have hooves.

4. The Twins have among body parts the shoulders, the arms, and the hands; among colors, yellowish green; among flavors, the sweet; among places, houses and arable places located in mountain ranges; among trees, tall ones; among living beings, monkeys and humans; among birds, waterfowl and all those that have a pleasant voice and make beautiful songs.

5. The Crab has among body parts, the chest, the breasts, the stomach, the lungs, the ribs, and the chest cavity; among colors, ashen gray and smoky gray; among flavors, the salty; among locales, lakes full of water, marshes, and places where streams flow together, the shore of the sea and of rivers; among stones, those that are in the water; among trees, tall ones that grow in the water; among living beings, those that live in the water, small fish, snakes, scorpions, vipers, and terrestrial reptiles.

6. The Lion has among body parts the trunk, the heart, the chest and the small ribs, the posterior ribs; among colors, the red, yellow, and the brown; among places, those of defense and fortifications, royal cities, fortified camps and holy places; among flavors, the bitter; among stones, the ruby, the diamond and the agate; among metals, gold; among trees, tall ones; among animals, those with long teeth; among birds, raptors.

7. The Maiden has among body parts, the belly and the abdominal cavity that contains the intestines and the pelvic bones, the viscera; among colors, the white and the gray; among flavors, the astringent; among places, brothels, places where fun is had or where there is singing; among plants, those that produce grain; among living beings, humans; among birds, those that swim in the water.

8. The Balance has among body parts the hips and the buttocks, the sex and the lower abdomen; among colors, the green, violet, and gray; among flavors, the sweet; among locales, deserts, sandy places, places of hunting, all places high and lofty, from where one can see a great distance around; among trees, tall and straight ones; among living beings, humans; among birds, those that have large heads.

9. The Scorpion has among body parts all the shameful members of men and women; among colors, green, red, and gray; among flavors, the salty; among places, those that are moist, prisons, somber places, and rocks where scorpions gather; among stones, the coral and the pearl; among trees, tall and straight; among animals, scorpions, vipers, snakes, small creatures of the earth, moist creatures and creatures of the water.

10. The Archer has among body parts the buttocks, the shins, and superfluous members of the body, that is those that have more of a part than is typical (like fingers or toes); among colors, pink tending towards red and all ashen or speckled colors; among flavors, bitter; among places, gardens, places for kings, and of fire; among stones, the emerald; among minerals, lead; among animals, humans and birds, snakes and small worms.

11. Capricorn has among body parts the knees, the tendons and parts of the leg below the knee, that is under the kneecap and back of the lower leg; among colors, peacock blue and bright red and all colors tending to the grey and black; among flavors, the astringent; among places, royal palaces, gardens, and moats, the banks of rivers and the places of dogs, inns and hotels, places where captives are assembled, as well as places with great and solid shapes; among trees, all strong ones like olive, walnut, oak, plants that grow in the water like the reed, the papyrus, and all trees that have spines; and a portion of aquatic animals, land reptiles and snakes.

12. Aquarius has among body parts what is under the shin: the heels, the Achilles tendons, the ankles; among colors, green, the color of lead, and yellow; among flavors, sweet; among places, those of running water, seas, wine markets; among stones, glass and others; amongs trees, tall ones; among living beings, human and all humanoid being with an ignoble shape like the devils.

13. The Fishes have among body parts the feet, the toenails, and the tendons (ofthe feet); among colors, green, white, and whatever is colorful; among flavors, acrid (fishy?); among places, hermitages, shores of rivers and of the sea, lakes full of water and moats; among stones, pearls, white and clear stones like quartz, and pearls of whatever type they might be; of trees, those of middle height and those that grow in the water; among animals, aquatic creatures and those that dwell in the water.

14. These are the properties of things possessed by the planets and signs and the attributes that are adapted to them. Pay them attention because it is necessary in the foundations of magic.
